Q: What is a master key?

A. A master key is used when you have one lock enabled for two different keys, usually in situations where there are tenants in a building.

One key is used by the tenant, or resident, and one is for the owner, or property manager. The manager’s key opens every lock in the building,
and is called the “master key.”
